Wow I am thrilled I have 53 page views and I don't even know how to blog!  Its been years.  But maybe one day I will learn, maybe not.  I love reading others beautiful blogs and they have just about replaced magazines for me.  My home is nowhere near blog-worthy like the others!  There are so many talented amateur decorators out there - I admire you all!

I do post occasionally on instagram so feel free to follow me there:   @lllbaldeagle

Thank You & Merry Christmas 2014 to all!

Making My Creative Space

I live in a tiny cabin on the plains.  For years I wanted my own space, sharing a tiny house with 3 men!  Years ago, we built on a sun room.  That was going to be my haven...  well, that didn't last long!  Boys 6 years apart no longer wanted to share the large upstairs loft.  So, I moved out to give #2 son his own room.

Around here, walls may not last too long.  My husband has come home from work before to find that I've torn out a wall.  He has never complained about any of this - laughed maybe, but never complained.  Years later, that wall may go back up!  Almost every room in this house has changed into another room, then back again.

Now, after #1 son left for college, #2 son took over the loft again (only this time by himself) I have 2 - TWO! - rooms to choose from to make my space.  Finally!  I chose the tiny bedroom.  I am so excited because Sunday, if all goes well, I will move in.  The painting process has started and all the supplies for more painting and hanging shelving has begun.  It was so much fun to go to the old-time hardware store in town (where you can still put things "on account") and get all the paints mixed, lumber cut and other supplies.  The husband and wife team that run the place have become friends over the long years of many projects.

Sometimes I long to have a "regular house" although with my ever-changing tastes and ideas, I'd probably be doing this anywhere I live.  I have never been the type that my furniture stays in the same positions too long and am constantly giving away things & bringing new things in.  It is sort of fun to have the kind of place that I can remodel myself.  I think the reason I do it so much is because I do long for a bigger space.  But, as I age and kids leave home, I wonder if I will ever realize that daydream.  This is the first house I have ever owned and it came late in life.

I know we've all heard the quote, "bloom where you're planted".  That is the only choice I have.  And this time NO more babies, NO more giving up my space.  I deserve it!

beginning blogging

Well; when I attended my first ever art retreat last June in Texas, when I met everyone one of the first questions I got asked was "do you have a blog?"  I thought, what, me?  blog?  No, blogs are for REAL artists!  Famous people!  Needless to say, I was immediately hooked on perusing blogs of the friends I met at the retreat, and now, the list of the blogs I regularly visit take up most of my bookmarks list!!!!  Today, thanks to my 12 year old son, I am now the "owner" of this blog!  Wow - I really wonder if anyone besides the friends I tell will read it.  And I am a very beginner so please forgive the appearance for a while until I actually know what I am doing.  So, good day from the rainy plains of the Midwest.
